Who we are
The Transnational Legal Coalition (TLC) was created to build a new, collective approach to legal resistance amid unprecedented destruction of the world’s biodiversity hotspots.
The TLC connects those most directly affected by corporate greed and environmental harm with organisations working to challenge these abuses globally. By linking local and Indigenous communities with international lawyers, campaigners, investigators and civil society groups, we take bold, coordinated action across borders to hold corporate and financial actors accountable.
Our mission is to strengthen collective efforts, navigate the challenges of multi-jurisdictional litigation, share resources, reduce duplication, and build powerful strategies to confront the global supply chains and economic systems driving deforestation and human rights abuses.
The TLC is an evolving project and is working hard to build partnerships with those on the frontlines of harmful extractive practices. We want to support the priorities and needs of people directly affected by these kinds of harms, particularly Indigenous communities, by connecting their struggles for justice with the work of civil society organisations, researchers, and lawyers at local, national, and international levels.
Together, we seek to deliver impactful legal outcomes that defend rights and protect the environment.
Our first area of focus is Brazil, and the world’s largest rainforest the Amazon.
